Light at the end of the Tunnel
Coding email newsletters can be frustrating at times considering how many different email programs there are. With a new reporting feature at Campaign Monitor I can see what different versions of a specific email program subscribers are using.
As well as showing which email clients are being used, the report also splits them up by version. This is crucial for email clients like Outlook, where your real concern is Outlook 2007 users (which has poor standards support) as opposed to those using previous versions (which have great standards support). We also list the 8 most popular clients at the top of the report so you can quickly see the versions that need your attention.
Take a look at a few of my recently sent newsletters. Its interesting to note the different user types, age, demographic and so on. Each report here is showing very different types of web users. From music to real estate, the Web Posse and my Architexture subscribers list and so on, I can now tailor design and testing more specifically eliminating (hopefully) problematic layout issues.
